{FO} Hitchhiking to Candy Land

I need to let you in on a little secret. This project began a love affair.  I am now desperately in love with Tami's Candy Skein yarn and am going to have problems going back to other yarns. But thankfully, my next few projects will be made with various bases from her yarn company - tempting sock as witness in Wednesday's post and her newest base Sweet Fingering which will become my Color Affection Shawl..

I am so pleased with how this project turned out :D

I ended with 37 teeth including the last one formed by the bind off (I went with the less pointy version).  In retrospect, I probably could have eked out another two - but I am an awful judge of how much yarn I'm using.  Maybe one day I will invest in a scale. Even with seeing other Hitchhikers with less teeth then mine, I was concerned it wasn't big enough but I shouldn't have worried.

A little spa treatment
After a good soak using the new Wrapture eucalan wash (which smells AMAZING!) the yarn grew beautifully.

I love how the yarn pooled - mostly it was just stripes but there were one or two "glob" sections which I enjoy.

Overall I am very pleased.  This yarn has cheered up my winter blues and even though it's more  of a spring shawl scarf I am sure I will be wearing it before spring officially comes.

I'm so pale I glow

{WIP} Snoopers Snoop On Out

Just as I finished one project...we're on to another! This one I won't be posting a lot of until they are done and given to their recipient.  Namely my sister-in-[should be]-law, Sarah.  She lovingly hinted at wanting a pair of fingerless gloves right before Christmas.

Now, Sarah, if you're reading....go away.

This project is knit with another one of Tami's delectable Candy Skein yarns. I am using Tempting Sock in the Blackberry color way.  Tami and I were chatting on instagram yesterday and pretty much decided it's impossible to get a true to color photo. So, here is the disclaimer: No Matter How Awesome This Yarn Looks in the Picture It is More Amazing In Person.

The fiber content is a blend of merino, CASHMERE, and nylon for a very spiffy, soft yarn.  For the pattern, I decided on zombie viXen by Susan Claudino (a freebie on Ravelry!) which should definitely be filed under "The Opposite of Mindless Knitting." We're talking fiddly cables here, folks.  And small needles. I had to buy some US1.5 needles (I knit pretty spot on...so a US1 would be too small and a US2 too big - As Nate said "You don't have all the needles yet??" No, kind sir. I do not).

So here is my little teaser for now and my current WIP.

Yarn is a more purply-blue in real life
