{WIP} Surgery

Thank you all very much for your kind words last week!  This has been quite an ordeal, and I've been pretty down and blue about it.
Pre-Surgery

So, as I mentioned I not only broke the distal radius in my wrist but I shattered it.  Last Thursday I had an appointment with the orthopedist and I figured I would get a cast and be on my merry way...back in work in a couple of days.  Um. Sadly, it did not work out like that.  The very nice PA informed me I would need surgery and wouldn't be going back to work for at least 6 weeks if not longer.  *sigh* In hindsight, I'm glad I signed up for the higher supplemental short term disability.   And thank God my mom is staying with me for the whole week

I had surgery yesterday, and am the proud new owner of my very own metal plate.  I am in considerably more pain then I was when I shattered it last Tuesday. Which I was not prepared for.  In my mind, I would wake up it would all be part of a bad dream.  Sadly, not true.

I kept falling asleep too - felt very narcoleptic.  I was a tad bit annoyed at the hospital too...my nurse in recovery couldn't get mt pain under control.  Everytime she gave me a new dose through the IV I stayed at about a 9 level of pain...one would think you would
switch to another medicine but no...not there.  She did seem more concerned with the guy one curtain over from me. I had to ask for a pillow twice - she was too busy chatting with that other patient.  When she came back to me 20 minutes later and asked if she could get me anything I was like "I still hurt..and pillow??" she was like "yes, I know...you asked for that aleady" and went off in a huff to find one. So needless to say..not fun.

{WIP} Broken Bones

Over the weekend I finished the garter stitch section of Multnomah and started the feather and fan section.  I think the author could have written it a little clearer, but the helpful notes section of Ravelry is very helpful.

I managed to do three out of the ten f&f repeats and it is so darn cute.  I can't wait to see it after I block it.

I also picked up yarn for Jackie's present...I was trying to find madeline tosh chunky, but all the local retailer's seemed to be out :(  I found something else I like but am still bummed.

Sadly, this might be my last WIP post for a little while.  Tuesday morning on my way to work, I hit a spot of black ice, lost control of my beloved Mini...and slammed into a jersey barrier.  I don't think my vehicle is totaled...but the same can't be said for my left wrist.  I broke it - although the correct term is shattered.  I shattered the distal radius and have a hair line fracture in my ulna.  I get a cast on Thursday but in the meantime I've got a sling and a splint.  I used to think I had a high tolerance for pain....yeah, yesterday proved me wrong.

{WIP} Multnomah

While looking in my yarn stash for a yarn to use for my friend Jackie's present (I didn't have anything) I came across a yarn cake of Araycania Ranco Multy that I had purchased last April for the Multnomah shawl.   Since I was itching for something to knit, I figured...why not!

I love this yarn - although, the skein had appeared to be more pink then what it is.  It is an explosion of color - pinks, browns, yellows, purples, and greens...and it's blended together so beautifully.  Well done, Araycania, well done.  So well done that I think I need to re-name my project.  Currently, it is called Sunset Over Multnomah...but the colors are not really a sunset.

So far I have about 160ish stitches.  I am increasing up to 193 (making the small shawl) before heading into the feather & fan portion.

My friend Christy and I are doing a coast-to-coast KAL on this one...which is fun!   She is such a talented knitter that it's great to be working on something together.  She is using the same yarn even, but in a different colorway.

I feel bad - I haven't been visiting all of your blogs lately.  Just not enough time in the day, but I do read them while I'm at work when I can...but I can't always comment.  So, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the comments and kind words you share with *me*.
