Clockwise from top:
(1) I finally cast on my Color Affection Shawl using Candy Skein Sweet Fingering yarn in Fudge Brownie. I am following it per the pattern instructions...which means a lot of make ones. And I don't know why, but I'm having issues with these M1s....I cheated on the first row and used a KFB because I could not get the bar between stitches easily.
(2) I am test knitting the Weather the Weather hat by Megan (Justrunknit on Ravelry) from the podcast Stockinette Zombies. I love this pattern...so easy and fun. Plus I'm learning new techniques such as a Left and Right Twist. I am using Cascade 220 which is making my palms sweat.
(3) And finally....the second sock on my plain jane vanilla beginner socks. This led to the Color Affection being cast on incidentally.
That's it for this week. Check out other Work In Progress blog posts by clicking the image below.
All your wips are lovely. I don't really like make 1's either. For some reason they intimidate me.
ReplyDeleteI find them easier to do in stockinette stitch...garter stitch, it feels like a free for all. My increase of choice is usually a KFB :)
DeleteLooking forward to seeing your Color Affection progress (and ALL of your WIP progress, for that matter)!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteColor Affection is such a fun project! Love the fudge brownie colorway that you are starting off with. I remember that on mine I did a yarn-over between the first two stitches in order to keep the edge from becoming too tight.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of ravelery notes saying to use the YO method, and I might try that on my second one. But I think the tighter edge is good for keeping it's shape when worn.
DeleteLooks like you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have multiple projects going sometimes :) I have the sock for my train commute, and the hat now for TV watching at night.
DeleteYou're busy this week! Definitely looking forward to seeing that Color Affection grow :)
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! Every now and then I enjoy having multiple WIPs going :D
DeleteI'm looking forward to adding the next color to the CA.
Great projects!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And Thanks for stopping by :D
DeleteWhat great WIPS! With so many great color affections out there I may be tempted to CO myself! I second you on the miserable winter and spring. It rained all of yesterday and probably will all of today here in Jersey City. Gloom.
ReplyDeleteIt's raining again :( I know the plants need it...but...I miss my sunshine and tshirts.
DeleteYou definitely should CO on the Color Affection :) It's pretty simple and fun to watch it grow from 5 stitches!
I think I'm the only knitter on the planet who hasn't at least started Color Affectation. This must portend a trip to my LYS! Beautiful WIPs! Thanks for reading, commenting and sharing.
ReplyDeleteA knitter definitely needs a few projects on the needles, lovely projects!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a good idea to have several projects on the go :-) . I have so far resisted starting any socks, but my husband has put in a direct plea, and he has a birthday in July, so I might just have to break the habit of a lifetime...!
ReplyDeleteI love your colours - the fudge brownie is delicious!
