{WIP} From 16" to 40"

Helm is coming along nicely.  I am almost done, and should hopefully be done by the weekend. This has been a great, challenging knit.  This is my first pattern by Stephen West, and I'm impressed - the pattern is very straightforward and very easy to follow, and the design is lovely!
I finished the main body Monday night, and switched the 16" circular needle for the 40" circular on Tuesday.  That was a fun process...lots of needles, including a cable needle hiding behind my ear.  Sorry for the bad picture - only artificial light in my office.

I am starting to think ahead to my next project which I think will be another hat with bulky yarn and big needles. I have one week to knit a hat for Christmas....here is hoping I can do it! Does anyone have any patterns for bulky hats they particularly like?

  1. I've made a slew of Big Button hats and Julie did too. Great way to show off a cool button.
Also in this link towards the end are a couple of my Quincy hats, quick to knit and easy pattern to follow. Jared Flood. pm me if you are interested in that pattern. I can help you out if you don't want to buy the booklet. http://knittinginbeantown.blogspot.com/2011/11/friday-fos-61.html

  5. Mmm I like those subtle earflaps. Along with Windschief, this is another Stephen West pattern that I think I must knit in the New Year! Nice colour!

  8. Great combination of yarn and pattern! And you can totally pull off a hat in a week, pretty easily. Can't help with a bulky yarn hat pattern, but will be checking back for recommendations.
