Happy Wednesday! With this being a short work week, time is certainly flying by! I cannot wait for Friday to come - Nate is picking me up from work in Boston and we're driving up north to visit his sister and her husband, but more importantly we're taking our niece to Build A Bear and Friendlys for ice cream for her birthday! She doesn't even know what Build A Bear is yet and we think she will be pretty happy to discover she can make a new friend to bring home. But we are definitely going to have to lay down some ground rules.
Anywhoo - I have been working diligently on the weekends on my hitchhiker shawl (really, more of a scarf) and the repeats are starting to take longer due to the amount of stitches that have grown. Hard to believe it only started with just two stitches!
I have heard of a lot of knitters who have said this pattern is boring and they don't know what the appeal is. Granted, it is garter stitch so it is just a lot of mindless knitting with the occasional KFB and P1. But, I think the fact I am knitting this with such fun, vibrant yarn is keeping it interesting. Plus, I feel accomplished when I get to the bind off row to make the teeth. I definitely have not been bored with this project. What I have been is very tired when I get home from work and pretty much just plop on the sofa and watch TV. We have entered the busy season for my job and it will continue to be busy probably well into April.
I love garter stitch for TV/decompressing time. My fingers can keep themselves busy while I unwind.
ReplyDeleteI think I fall into the category of "what's so great about it?" Don't get me wrong, they turn out beautifully but I, personally, don't see the appeal of making one. My endless rows of knitting are best suited to socks, I think :)
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see the Hitchhiker shawl, it makes me want to knit it ... and yours is making me drool!
ReplyDeleteLooks terrific! I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteAh, maybe I'll do a hitchiker instead of another wingspan. mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI need to stop looking at other people's blogs. I just end up with more projects to start :)
That pattern looks awesome with the rainbow yarn! Great job!
