While looking in my yarn stash for a yarn to use for my friend Jackie's present (I didn't have anything) I came across a yarn cake of Araycania Ranco Multy that I had purchased last April for the Multnomah shawl. Since I was itching for something to knit, I figured...why not!
I love this yarn - although, the skein had appeared to be more pink then what it is. It is an explosion of color - pinks, browns, yellows, purples, and greens...and it's blended together so beautifully. Well done, Araycania, well done. So well done that I think I need to re-name my project. Currently, it is called Sunset Over Multnomah...but the colors are not really a sunset.
So far I have about 160ish stitches. I am increasing up to 193 (making the small shawl) before heading into the feather & fan portion.
My friend Christy and I are doing a coast-to-coast KAL on this one...which is fun! She is such a talented knitter that it's great to be working on something together. She is using the same yarn even, but in a different colorway.
I feel bad - I haven't been visiting all of your blogs lately. Just not enough time in the day, but I do read them while I'm at work when I can...but I can't always comment. So, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the comments and kind words you share with *me*.
That's a fantastic pattern. I love the color you're using.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a coast to coast KAL on a project, keeps you motivated doesn't it? I have this one on my queue for someday but haven't found the perfect yarn yet!
ReplyDeleteI like it every time I see that shawl, but then realize, it's feather and fan. I did a blanket early on in my knitting career that was feather and fan. Due to the length of the project I can't stand feather and fan. I just kept wishing the blanket was done. LOL. So now, no FnF for me!
ReplyDeleteI like that colorway, very nice.
ReplyDeleteI love it when stash diving turns up something so lovely! Looking forward to seeing your shawl come together -- it's gorgeous already.
ReplyDeleteYour KAL is a great idea - it'll inspire you to keep going and going! Love the colours in your yarn. I have a skein of the same so I can't wait to see how yours turns out!
ReplyDeleteI've been itching to try the Multnomah for AGES now! Yours is working up quite nicely - can't wait to see the finished product! :)
ReplyDeleteYummy yarn!
ReplyDeleteLove that yarn - and it is the colour of an Ulhuru sunset (Ayres rock - it looks just that colour in the right light) :)
ReplyDeleteIt is impossible to comment and stop by people's blogs all the time. Seriously I hear you! I love to read blogs but sometimes there are only so many hours in the day. The yarn's looking great - best of luck with the shawl!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are looking very pretty so far. It looks like it'll be a lovely shawl
ReplyDeleteI'm learning how to knit too and it's not going so well. I have to take some classes. You have such a cute blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower.

I love that yarn, its going to be a lovely shawl!
ReplyDeleteI too am having a hard time keeping up with everyone's blogs. I am blaming my emergent ADD on the side effects of being a blogger, a knitter, and a member of Ravelry. I am so spacy and easily sidetracked by pretty projects.
